Indestructible Hulk #4

Another nice issue of indestructible has wrapped up the Attuma storyline and says goodbye to Yu unfortunately. There was less science in this issue and more of Banner being a bloke in general, there was quite a lot of attuma pointlessly pontificating but asside from that it was a pretty sweet issue. I get the feeling that something big will happen with the comic soon, a big villain or something cataclysmic with science, its floated along nicely for a while now we need to see it develop again.

All New X Men #9

I am extremely tempted to drop this title, and become less and less interested in it as it goes on, this week however a little of that changed... The new brotherhood look cool and I like their motives or lack there of, I cant wait for angel to change sides and the last page linking with Uncanny is very cool. Art was same as always, sleek and fun, I really like the sheen that highlights the characters. All of this is still only of limited interest, there are a lot of x characters I want to see more of and I dont care about the "past" x men buuuuut im gonna have to get over it, looks like theyre gonna b here for a while...

Avengers #8

I really liked this issue! It was all it was built up to be, it reminded me of a what if stanford scenario. i loved the way cap handled things and how villainous the avengers actually came across. I like the loop back to the last arc although all of the universe stuff is a little ott. I always feel as though doing character stories is a better way to go becuase if the whole univrse was going to die it would be a bigger deal... The art was nice, Kubert esque, very sharp and neat, loved it.

New Avengers #4

That being said the universe hopping earth shattering New Avengers is fantastic! Its believable and within the insanity the character moments are clear and defining. The personal fix's to the problem they face was an awesome way to present the issue and Epting brings the best to the table portraying all of the characters perfectly and emotively. I dont have a clue whats going on or who they are fighting atm but the cosmic battle is awesome! I cant wait for more!

One of the best issues of one of the best marvel now titles to date. Stunning art as always supported by strong emotional content, a little amusing action and stunning storytelling. This title is pretty close to perfect, pick of the week for sure.

CBT! Age Of Ultron #2, Uncanny Xmen #3, Secret Avengers #2

Age Of Ultron #2

WHY DOESN'T BENDIS WRITE X MEN THIS WELL!?!?!? Age of Ultron started brilliantly last week and continued its intense story in a post utronic destroyed world. As usual with apocolyptic stuff the best thing is seeing exactly what each character is doing and how they are adapting and it is great to see a few new examples of that this issue. Moon Knight and Black Widows stories look awesome however I am a little annoyed with two things, cap already has a plan and there are barely any xmen considering Bendis is an x men writer now. Anyway I will be buying all of AU its awesome so far, you should too.

Uncanny X Men #3

Uncanny X Men fails to pick up in its third issue and falls back about a year into pointless bickering between Cap and Cyke, I really like a lot of the points made in the comic but feel like they are the subtleties that made the end of AvX bearable and they never needed telling explicitly. The art was Bachalo what can I say, generally messy and out of proportion as usual, I'm glad its changing soon. Magneto's ploy is pretty cool but it annoys me that it was played up in previews as though he was a traitor, feels more like a lie than good writing. I'm sticking with the title but expecting it to pick up for sure (last page is good btw).

Secret Avengers #2

Nick Spencer's insane Secret Avengers continues with a second issue as action packed as the first, AIM pop up as theey do in everything at the moment and Taskmaster is broken free, just not in any of the ways you may think. Its tricky to review this without spoiling it but the last few pages and the smart direction the series is taking makes the comic. Througout the dialogue is good and the art along with it but nothing spectacular, its the plot that stands out, and stands out enough to make it a regular title, for now at least.

Avengers #7

I really cant remember what happened.... Oh yeah basically nothing, we were misled for 6pages which was a cool idea but I dont want to read pages and pages full of it, then we got everything explained and in the end we got to just before something interesting. So next issue should be good... Really this issue was nothing which is a shame but I guess that happens sometime, you have to have hype and a little bit of pseudo science before something potentially cool, fingers crossed its worth the price of two issues.... art was nice...

Uncanny X Men #2

Uncanny X Men 2 hit the shelves this week, only a few weeks after the first issue, and it offered a similar pace, plot and poor level of art. Unfortunately I am not a fan of Chris Bachalo's work so for me this titles art is disappointing and painfully similar to his previous xmen work, everyone must wear goggles and be out of proportion. However I understand that a lot of people like him so im going to have to look past that and to the rest of the comic. It began promisingly with an emotional heart to heart between Emma and Scott, defining their current relationship, it was a really nice quiet moment amidst the insanity that is Marvel Now. However that was basically it for the issue, apart from getting a look at the new school and a friendly cliffhanger the whole issue was pretty irrelevant. A nice character moment was had and I think needed however the comic could have been balanced a little better, the first issues narrative could have continued into this issue ensuring at least a little action. Anyway its nice... not amazing or particularly exciting but a decent character piece.

Uncanny X Force #2

Uncanny X forces unusual team continue to battle against Spiral and search for the new mutant effecting the population of some club somewhere.I have absolutely no idea what is going on with Bishop or with Phantomex but I love the current team dynamic. Puck is a brilliant character, I'm not sure where his sudden character has come from, he was a nothing in the Nasty Boys but I'm glad he is in Uncanny X foce changing things up a little. The art is fantastic, I never thought I would like Punk Storm but Garney knows what he is doing! The pencils and panels are fantastic, it flows smoothly and has a brilliant fluidity and modernity to it. As for the story itself it seems to be pretty basic so for, obviously some arcs are beginning with Bishop and Phantomex but for now the simple mission is kind of nice, after the Utopia phase of X force comics for them to be a little more relaxed is refreshing and gives a good contrast before it inevitably dips back into blood soaked darkness that is X force. I didn't plan on Uncanny x force being one of my regular titles but Humphries and Garney are changing my mind issue by issue, I may be hooked!

Young Avengers #2

Issue two of Young Avengers concentrated on Loki, Hulkling and Wiccan and the thing they have unleashed. It was pretty crazy as expected and as usual delivered in witty and touching dialogue with sweet art. I do have one issue with McKelvie's art though, I dont like the way he draws adults, they always seem to have baby faces, that aside the art is awesome and the way in this issue specifically the panels were played with was brilliant. I am looking forward to the team being a team, at the moment it seems like some crazy set up but I like it, its fun, light and heartfelt.

Guardians of the Galaxy #0.1

Like the majority of the world I have no idea who the Guardians of the Galaxy are but I can tell you one thing for sure, after the quality of issue 0.1 I'm going to be buying a lot of comics to find out! 0.1 is rightfully an origin tale, giving a little context to the faithful leader of the team and what an awesome tale it is, pretty simple but emotional and interesting, no need to re invent the wheel it obviously works. McNiven's art is pretty classic but done to a rediculous quality, its meden comic art at its best. I am looking forward to the galactic and the team, it should be good, why isnt bendis this good on X Men??!?!

Uncanny Avengers #4

Clean up to issue four.... Uncanny Avengers #4 suddenly ties up all issues that were being faced with long unnecessary narration and history lessons. Uncanny feels like more of an effort to read than a pleasure, it suffers from what 80's comics did wrong, they spend a lot of time describing and restricting action rather than letting the art speak for itself. Now... the art, I love Cassadays stuff in Astonishing but for me Uncanny has been a little poor, it suffers from little shading and too much block colouring, maybe its a colouring error but I also disagree with a lot of costume costume choices and images in general. The one succesfull thing this comic had was a last page, the idea of Red Skull Onslaught and the look of the future (and tie in to Cable and the XForce) make me want to keep in touch with the title. Unfortunately the next arc is Apocalypse, Hickman! you did apocalypse like a year ago, leave it alone! So yeah nice and simple wrapped up without any real trouble, after four issues the team is together so maybe we will start getting some good content, fingers crossed eh.

CBT! Morbius 2, Indestructible Hulk 4, Nova 1, Avengers 6.

Morbius #2

The second issue of Morbius finally came out and whilst it spent a bit of time filling in gaps in the last issue it was pretty decent. The art was almost exactly the same, moody but not depressing, pathetic or a derogative of Miller, hurrah! In fact if anything it is reminiscent of Ron Wagners art in the 1992 series Morbius the Living Vampire. The whole series feels as though it is set in the same kind of slums (I know its not) with the same kind of villains, which is good, it works! It is nice to see Morbius not scrabbling for a cure for a change though and it would be nice to see that dynamic continue. I think this series has great potential, at the moment it seems to be concentrating on good simple stories which I like, it would be cool to see his own universe expand a little though. For an old 90's horror comic fan it would be nice to see midnight sons is all im saying, GR has been cancelled after all.... Anyway another decent issue of Morbius, next one should pick it up another notch!

Indestructible Hulk #4

This issue of Hulk teased us more and more with the current life Banner is living, we get less answers but more of an idea of who Banner is each issue. The comedy of the comic is one of its strongest points and really stands out in this issue. On the down by the nature of the comic it has to be very split, straight down the middle, story then action, in every issue. Hopefully there will be more of a way to mix it up in the future but its not stale just yet. Overall the issue was another good one, I love the internal monologue although it all felt too short, I want more pages of this book!

Nova #1

Well I don't like the cover, and after flicking through it looked poor... I was happy to be proven wrong. The one thing I didn't expect to find from Nova was an emotional family story, whilst I hope it doesn't become teen drama, it is nice to see a comic that has a bit of family drama. This mixed with the slightly confusing back plot that, I'm sure will be explained, delivers the right amount of action and story with uplifting endings. I have no idea about the space stuff in Marvel but looking forward to discovering it in A lot of new space books that this seems to be a part of. It smells of a Guardians of the Galaxy intro and tie in comic but there's nothing wrong with that.... as an xfan though I miss the Starjammers myself... Art wise it was a lot better than I expected although the art wasn't given a massive chance to showcase itself but McGuinness art should look real pretty in the space scenes.

Its good, emotional and fun but we learn practically nothing about how the series will develop, guess we will have to buy the next issue... I see you being sneaky Marvel.

Avengers #6

I missed #5, stopped buying them at #4 and am regretting it now that I have read #6. For a start any troubles I had with Kubert's art in #4 make me look like a fool in this issue. His sharp pencils and rough shading brilliantly fit the tone of the comic, they are stunning, the panneling stays basic but subtle changes add emotion (the car) that tugs the heart strings. Now to the story, like I said I missed #5 but I don't seem to have missed much, this seems a lot like the origin issue for Hyperion just more emotional and better told. The other brilliant thing about this issue is that Hickman writes SpiderOck in this better than Dan Slott does in Superior, his bitching and general demeanour were brilliant throughout. SPOILER I really hope Hickman changes his tune away from creation, both universe creation, mini world orb creation (XF), or Alien terraforming because I feel like its a little old, still epic but getting a bit worn. END OF SPOILER

It was a light emotional read exploring some of the unknowns of the new team. The stunning art work goes a long way to making this comic as good as it is, with no action it still felt fluid and entertaining. Still not sure if the series is a keeper though, it doesn't seem to have found its feet yet, maybe thats the point though, too many cooks? I dunno, decide for yourselves its worth a few quid!

CBT! All New X Men 7, New Avengers 3, Iron Man 6

All New X Men 7

Not a bad issue but just more of the same, the whole comic was just one scene, and it was reiterations of things we already know. Clearly this title is content to stay where it is despite the "revolution" X men comics are currently promising. Not only that but Mystique was an idiot in this issue, I hope to god she was just being manipulative cus all the stuff about respect for xavier and Scott is just rubbish. We also got no further on the identities of Mystiques team mates or how she came back after Messiah Complex. The art was ok but there was little opportunity for there to be any amazing art, however Mystique did change forms a silly number of times. The one thing I liked about the issue was the safety deposit box.... thats it.

Wow! This blew me the hell away, whilst there wasn't a lot of action, and a lot of text, IT WAS Stunning! Really the way the whole thing is playing out is just epic, a perfectly crafted story, well paced, ominous, dark and well considered New Avengers #3 is my pick of the week, AWESOME!

Iron Man 6

The start to the God Killer arc has been long awaited, and was ever so slightly anti climactic. I think this probably has to do with both my extensive reading of Gillen interviews and the title, only he is surprised that the Phoenix is the god he has "killed". (A concept I have a little trouble with because he didnt kill it really.) Other than that this issue has the same charm and charming character. I love the way this comic works although it would have been nice to have a comic between 5 and 6, I feel as though I missed something. One thing is for sure though, Tony is in deep deep trouble now, lets see what happens!

Superior Spiderman #2

I was one of the supporters of the status quo shift and of Dan Slott's development of Doc Ock into Peter Parker, but this... is a joke. The only way to enjoy this comic is as though its a "what if" or a phase everyone can forget about, the comic has lost all seriousness, it is a joke, Slott has thought of a few things he thinks would be funny, such as ock "enjoying" memories of Peter and MJ, it has turned the comic into a poor meta about comicbook heroes' faults, which could be a good idea but its execution is poor and so is the comic. Unfortunately I don't think the artwork is any saving grace, its too busy and further crowded by pointless overbearing speech bubbles. So obviously overall this comic is a bag of Doc Ock's wank, it also levers Carly into figuring out the whole Doc is Peter thing which will most likely resolve itself within the year.

Avengers #4

This issue was ALL about Hyperion... not a bad thing as I had no clue who he was before today... Despite its simplicity this was a nice introduction to the character whilst mopping up a little of the fallout from the first set of villains, its a smart way for the comic to develop, a little down time till the next big bang. Hyperion seems a little like Sentry to me but that depends on where he goes from here, hopefully not the same way but the ominous undertones of his character were hammered into the audience in this issue, its clear hes gonna have some issues. I also think that after AIM taking a bit of a backseat in the past they are EVERYWHERE now! But thats no problem, they are a pretty classy evil organisation by anyone's standards and they're still not spread as thinly as Wolverine. Art wise I was excited to see a Kubert as always but felt a little let down, most of the pencils were just a little off, the panelling on the other hand was sweet, rightfully reminiscent of the 90's but I think in general Adam Kubert's art suits battles and action more than recon, the best art in the book for sure were the Hyperion sections. Pretty standard but a nice intro to Hyperion and a nice cool off from #1-3. I look forward to learning more about the team and seeing more missions in the future.

I would like to point out that I know I am highly critical of a lot of what I read but I have to pick at the little things because in general comics are amazing. I expect them to be high quality, a 7/10 for a comic is like a 9/10 for a... something ordinary. :)

Avengers #3

The conclusion of the first Avengers arc is upon us and it brings with it tantalising teasers and typical problems, well written, again, Hickman's story comes to a clear and tidy end. As always a really enjoyable book and as always I have a few problems with it, firstly the first few pages of exposition are more recap than anything else and feel like they could have been more minimal. My other big problem is something I come across a lot in comics, Ms Universe or Equilibrium or whoever she is, is so powerful the rest of the Avengers are redundant, another appearance of this is Sentry however they fixed that by making him crazy... Anyway I realised when reading this how little I knew about a lot of the Avengers so it would be nice for a few of the next comics to solidify the line up and introduce the characters a little more. The SPOILER "one is life, the other is death" teaser is one to get excited about but again it feels very much like Hickman's uncanny x force. END OF SPOILER
A nice end to a decent introductory arc without too many dark questions or challenging material, just a decent read with some new epic team ups!

Uncanny Avengers #3

Things are finally kicking off in Uncanny Avengers, after two issues of setup its time for a battle between the Uncanny Avengers, the Red Skull's S Men and the crazed mutant hating american public. For an epic sounding comic for me #3 lacked pace, I felt the comic was too wordy, for an action climax the words slowed it down too much, I wanted to "watch" the battle unfold but the script took me out of the moment. The art was also a little off, I am starting to dislike lack of shading, pencil lines and "dirt" so for me this week I was a little disappointed, also the story itself was a little basic, the lack of planning or complexity in Red Skulls work puts me off a little. I really want this title to be good but so far I am not satisfied. As with the last few, an ok comic but nothing near as special as I expected.

Uncanny X Force #1

I was in no way looking forward to Punk Storm, Bishop, Puck or really any of Uncanny X force, especially after Cable and the X Force being amazing and me losing faith in Uncanny X force in the mid 20's. Fortunately the new writer and artist have produced something surprisingly good! The artwork was really nice, the clubish colours and thin pencils look really cool and fit the style of the comic, for someone who hates punk storm I quite liked it. Psylock's character seems to be going in circles a little but other than that the comics storyilne was decent, I like the idea of it being Puck's team, its a little unusual but all together the comic is written well enough that it seems both plausible and cool. I wasn't planning on this being a regular pick up for me but now I am very tempted!

Young Avengers #1

Wow! It was crazy as expected, the team of Phonogram injecting witty emotional realism into the Young Avengers whilst shaking up the relationships and the line up. I enjoyed this issue immensely, and one of the main reasons is the stunning art work, the mixture of stylistic and exciting battles with plain 8box pages instantly set the tone of the page, their juxtaposition increase their effect and the artwork and colouring within the panels is clean, smooth, expressive and brilliant! Onto the writing, the speech and narration itself was all natural and emotive, Loki always provokes a laugh and the quite scenes between Hulkling and Wiccan were really heartwarming, Gillen wasted no time in getting to the emotional heart of the book. As for the overall story, the team isn't quite "assembled" yet but I can imagine the cliffhanger of the book will be the force that brings them together, and what a crazy cliffhanger it is. Again I absolutely loved this book, each individual page offered something new and exciting or heart warming and all elements of the artwork perfectly translated the emotion of the comic. An awesome first issue, can't wait for more!

CBT Savage Wolverine 1, X Factor 250, All New X Men 6, Indestructible Hulk 3, Captain America 3, New Avengers 2.

Savage Wolverine #1

Wolverine has always been overworked and milked, Marvel now doesn't look like it will be an exception, and unfortunately Savage Wolverine isn't one of the better titles. I can only guess that the situation in the Savage land will last for ever, as the title suggests it will, so I don't expect the title to change or adapt all that much, I definitely dont expect any character development or questions to be answered. If you pick up Savage Wolverine all you get is another Wolverine story, him on a random mission doing what he does repetitively. On the art side of things Cho's work is ok, it is a little off but I honestly think that has more to d with the inks, and I like the panelling, it takes me back to Frank Miller's work on Wolverine. I think this is one of the first marvel now titles I am 100% sure I wont be picking up any more  its not awful but in a sea of wolverine comics and team ups a solo series has to do more to be interesting and Savage Wolverine falls into mediocrity.

X Factor 250

Hell on Earth War has begun with issue 250 of X factor! On a little side note I dont like these kind of earth changing stories in less mainstream comics because you know they cant be earth changing because it would be in a bigger title, I think in general XF would benefit from reducing the cast a little and going back to its private eye beginnings and noir style. Anyway back to #250, this explosive beginning ties together a LOT of things that have been brewing, but not all things, that would be insane, there are looooaaaaddds of thread in XF and it looks like some of them MAY be answered however Pad has a knack of getting out of giving us any answers. I have no decent idea of where this is going to go and I enjoyed the issue a lot, the art was great as usual and the battle to kill Tier for the leadership of hell is a great idea, im not quite sure yet why any of it makes much sense yet but its cool, Im looking forward to more as always.

All New X Men 6

Well the first 2 pages were a cop out! Issue 6 continues the relatively dull exploration of the past x men as they readjust to life in the present. Focusing on Jean and Scott with Angel thrown in at the end the issue was only enjoyable when reading Kitty's passages, guiding and comforting Jean, I think this is still because I am completely uninvested in the past x men as characters and just want them to go back! Scott and Wolverines scuffles were pretty pointless and the comic seemed only to move forward in the final panel and speech bubble, looks like the brotherhood of evil mutants is coming back with Mystique as its leader, clearly this will mean some villains to make Scott's team less villainous. Anyway the art changed in this issue but not a lot, its a little less glossy but very similar pencil wise and still pretty decent although the wolverine is a little off... So 6 is pretty much what you expect, MOVE the comic FORWARD BMB!

Indestructible Hulk 3

Indestructible Hulk 3 continues to establish the new equilibrium Banner is in, using his skills as a scientist and a Hulk, this issue specifically focuses on the Hulk part in a awesome battle with a classic AIM villain. Art stays fantastic although I am disappointed that Hulk isn't in the cool armour that the cover teases. Some new and potentially interesting characters have been introduced so I am looking forward to seeing Banner interacting with them rather than just Maria Hill. I really like the mission kind of set up that #3 presented and honestly really enjoyed it and the things it implies for the future of the book.

Captain America 3

Cap 3 is a nice quick read, the story is still a little insane as it its ending but the action and the narration are as strong as they have been throughout the series. I love JRjr's 1930's art, I love the colour scheme and the way he draws kids but the stuff in Z world still isnt quite up to scratch. Throughout it is the narration and the action are the most enjoyable aspects of the comic and I hope that once this story ends the writing style stays the same.

New Avengers 2

New Avengers #2 is my pick of the week for sure! An excellent comic, somewhat wordy for sure it was exciting, interesting and epic. I am so excited for the next issue! The art was sweet as it was in the first issue and the darkness and panelling gave the comic a really dark and epic feel. The whole storyline is fantastic, a little complex but it makes sense for sure, I love the galactus undertones and am looking forward to meeting the villains that have been teased in this issue. I feel a little like the infinity gauntlet is in it so that people learn what it is before Avengers 2 but its a wicked device to use and definitely fits the comic well. The comic also managed to rectify my problems with the first issue, Namor was threatened by Black Panther which is good and the real tone and story were actually laid down. Read the comic, its ace!

CBT Cable and the X Force 2, Superior Spiderman

Cable and the X Force #3

Another brilliantly written issue of Cable and the X Force hit the shelves this week, again the interactions and dialogue are perfect! I am struggling to say more about this comic, it really just feels like these characters really living their lives. As always I loved this issue however I had a few problems with it... Firstly I dont really see the importance of the mission, yeah if nothing was done about it then sentinels, dystopia blah blah blah but I dont get why cable didnt go to the uncanny avengers about it... Secondly I really dislike the fact Cable is still dying, I thought without the TOvirus cable's storyline would open up to more than just terminal illness. Apart from those few things the issue was great, I like the whole "butterfly effect" stuff, Forge's tech was cool and Doctor Nemesis' Blade Runner quip was brilliant! Again it has to be said Larroca's art was spectacular, Havok was again particularly excellent and I can say nothing more than I cannot wait for the next issue!

Superior Spider-Man #1

After the epic status quo shifting ASM700 Spiderman's future was kind of up in the air, with SPOILER Otto Octavius now Peter Parker for good we got a first look at what kind of SpiderMan he would be, and well it looks like he is going to be a Spidey who uses more gadgets and acts like Toby Maguire in SpiderMan 3... Maybe... So overall I really like the idea of switching the characters, for me Spidey just never changes and I was getting pretty tired of it, in fact I stopped reading ASM after spider island when it looked like MJ and Pete would get back together, yawn.... But this big change has the chance to be "superior" however devices are already in place for Peter to take back over, I might start a bet on how long it will take, less than a year I think. But with all of that aside the issue itself was pretty decent, I didn't really like Doc just being a dick to everyone but the action was well planned and looked pretty nice. The art in general was pretty good, nothing really special but not bad in any way. Hopefully some good things will come of this change, with #1 all we really saw was Doc being like he was in ASM and the beginnings of Peters unexplainable, inevitable return, put in now to prevent it being called a deus ex... Anyway its worth picking up as a taster of what is to come but I didn't find anything spectacular, amazing, astonishing, sensational or superior about #1

CBT All New X Men 5, Iron Man 5, Morbius 1, New Avengers 1

All New X Men #5

I have been notably uncomfortable with All New X Men and have found it in most cases less epic than I have expected, whilst this issue was far from epic the direction of the series seems to have finally been nailed down, the set up seems to be over and the actual stories can begin. One specifically bad point for this comic is the random insert of Cyclops recruiting the kid from the issue before which really feels more like an epilogue that should have been in the last issue, in this one it just breaks up the focus for a few pages leaving the reader expecting a split comic and getting a very one sided issue. Not that that is a massive problem I just personally would have preferred to have this whole issue focusing on whats happening at the school. As for what is happening at the school, this is one of the best issues yet, it isn't just set up, Beast's health problems are finally addressed in a fun and appropriate way and the All New X Men finally decide what they are going to do. Unfortunately Beasts new transformation looks stupid, he looks more like a blue monkey than a cat... However the best things about the issue are kitty leading the new x men and Cyclops calling his school Xavier's school for the gifted. I am also still waiting for someone unexpected to change sides, I had hoped it would be past beast but with past Angel's growing curiosity about his own fate and wish to return to the past could he be the x man to turn over to Cyclops' side?
Overall a pretty good issue if for no other reason than some things got resolved and I am hopeful that this issue is a turning point for the series to start moving at a better pace.

Iron Man #5

Gillen has done it again, another fantastic issue of Iron Man hit the shelves this week, with less action and more pontificating the future of the series is addressed and laid out for all to see, Stark is going to space. He is turned on to this idea by an old colleague "Eli" who took the last rogue extremis to make space capable humans to inhabit Mars. Tony disagrees with his capabilities to use the extremis responsibly or to protect it from others and quickly efficiently takes them down, the way this is explained is brilliant, I love getting a look at Tony the tactician! The soul searching within the issue works well, it feels like Pepper finally pins him down and wants to get to the bottom of his current issues, a sentiment he shows he needs by calling his new ai P.E.P.P.E.R. a fitting reminder of home for Tony. The AI isn't the only new thing for Tony to use in space, he has a new suit and it looks fantastic, Land has outdone himself, it reminds me a little of some of the variations from the 90's and from the Heroes Reborn era. I do think that it seems as though the series moving forward slightly mimics Avengers in its "be bigger" ethos and slightly mimics the marvel cinematic universe in its galactic feel. Stark wanting to do more with himself also mimics slightly what Waid is doing with Banner in Indestructible hulk however both of these similarities can be put down to general character progression and is a good thing for sure! An excellent end to the first arc, ultimately uplifting and exciting, the whole series so far has been perfect and I recommend it to all!

Morbius #1

Keatinge's new now Morbius is trying painfully hard to differentiate from the Morbius of old, however an origin mixed issue isn't a great way of doing that, the first issue seems like more of a catch up issue for new readers, however it does offer a feel of how the character will be tackled and the general feel of the book will be. One of my favourite things about this issue was the thin panels that only contained text, they seemed to be one of the few unique and punchy things about the comic. Morbius still seems a lot like himself he has always been troubled and worried in himself,  personally would like to see the series move towards Morbius being self sufficient and decide what he wants to do, scientifically or heroically or even villain...ey. Overall it wasn't a bad start, it was fun but it wasn't really a proper start to the series.

New Avengers #1

The first issue of the New Avengers is a simple tale of how Tchalla, the Black Panther gets over his aversions to joining the Illuminati. Except for introducing a villain and getting over this little stumbling block the majority of the issue is a little pointless, that does not mean however that it is not enjoyable. Hickman's writing is as always enjoyable but much like Morbius the majority of the issue is just set up and I am duly excited to see the next few issues. I do have one MASSIVE question WHY THE FUCK HAS TCHALLA LET NAMOR BACK INTO WAKANDA!!! Apart from that enjoyable set up to an exciting story with above par art from Epting that feels just like all his other art, pretty basic but pretty decent comic book art.

All New X Men #4

All new X Men is one of the main titles I have been looking forward to in Marvel Now however it is getting unfortunately disappointing. The art has always been fantastic, the fourth page (the first splash of the issue) in this issue is one of my all time favourite images. The panelling is fresh and a little insane allowing Immonen to really play with the format and size of panels. The storyline however seems not to be progressing, after four issues I feel like I still only have the information that was released in teasers, it has been quite unimpressive. I think the reason for this may be that the JG School team and Scott's new team have been crammed into one comic, as we know Scott's team will eventually split into Uncanny X Men and I hope that when that happens the two comics get their own identities and improve. Despite my frustration with the series this issue itself wasn't bad, it was nice to see the two new mutants starting to interact a little but I am expecting them to grow more in the future. I am still really not enjoying the past x men, I was never going to... Another reason I am never particularly shocked b the issues may be that I read the previews stupidly early but im not going to stop, there should be more than one good scene per comic.

Avengers Arena #2

Hopless' Avengers Arena two titles have continued for a second week and Avengers Arena continued with its specific single character storytelling method with the character Deathlockette, a new character and daughter of the creator of Deathlock's. The second issue was just as good as the first with high drama, death and danger leading us to our first real group of characters. I get the feeling the majority of the characters in this are either really small, new or not likely to die. The art was still awesome so well done for that, I am looking forward to seeing the series progress and getting a look into the heads of all the other characters, Deathlockette and Hazmat were a great start.

Avengers #2

Issue One was epic and issue two has continued exactly where it left off, the villains continued to ramp up the pressure, the multi time storytelling began to bridge together and the real recruiting began. Opena continued to draw the Avengers how he wants to see them, it is refreshing to get a not so shiny image of the mighty heroes that brings them down the Earth (or Mars) whilst keeping them cool and stylish. Speaking of style the "Foundation" of members is an awesome new idea, I love the branching logo and trying to fit heroes into each one, a few are still blank so Im looking forward to seeing them filled in. For me as an Xfan it was cool to see Sunspot and Cannonball, in general I liked the section with SpiderWoman and Captain Marvel, in fact the whole recruiting section managed to stay short and concise whilst adding 12 to the roster! The villains seem a little bit too much like Apocolypse from Hickman's X force stuff, they seem to have very similar "life seed" "death seed" style views and weaponry but they serve the purpose of being a threat the Avengers need to regroup for. Yeah a really excellent second issue and one of my favourite now titles for sure!

Thunderbolts #2

its interesting to say the least. Anyway what did I think, well I thought it was quite amusing, whilst tensions were unneceserily high in the issue it did have a few nice lines from Venom and was overall an easy read, it flew by in a generic whirr but I personally dont see what is wrong with a little bit of a cliche or stereotype, sometimes boundaries dont have to be pushed, its nice to read a comic and not think "what does all this mean(to be read in an overly dramatic voice.)" However it isn't nice and it is easy to see what is wrong with Dillon's art, I like the red and black theme but aside from that the panelling is boring and the images are unimaginative, dull and undynamic, not only that but the simple lines and shades make the book look more like a colour by numbers than a comic. So overall it was very mediocre but hey that ok... literally mediocre is ok...

X Factor #249

I am running out of things to say about X Factor, if you have read it you know what its like... thats what it was like, its always high quality, quick, quippy and action filled. Something specifically nice about this issue that highlights Peter David's knowledge and dedication to his characters was Monet's reaction to being trapped in her body. I have read all the stuff about her being Penance and it didnt even occur to me that it would effect her so well done to David for really getting into the heads of his characters and remembering their nuances. I am however a little unimpressed by how slowly X Factor moves and by how much pathetic drama goes on, I love the realism in the characters speech and the way they interact but it feels like it can get in the way of the storytelling and take over the comic. Anyway the next issue marks Peter David's 100th consecutive issue and the start of a new Hell war on earth saga or something, should be interesting!

7.8/10 (I know specific, I want it to be a 7.5 but it was better than All New 4)

Cable and the X Force #2

For a writer fairly new to the Marvel Universe and very new to this set of characters Hopless writes X Force like he has been writing it for years! The characters interactions feel natural and pure and the developments he is working on are interesting and hopefully unique. My favourite character of the issue was Domino who acts as kind of a mouth piece for the audience asking Cable why he is doing this AGAIN!!!. The time jusmping around is a little confusing but I think it is worth the trade off for the good mix of action and questions it brings. The return of Stryfe (who else is that shadow going to be) is a little disappointing as is Cables mystery illness, they are both character arcs I would like to have seen Cable move away from but other than that the series is going brilliantly. As I said last week Larroca's stuff is beautiful, his action is exciting his interiors are nice and detailed and I am really enjoying his work, more of the same is needed. It was nice to see Colossus' reappearance and it was well handled, of all the phoenix 5 power fluctuations his is my favourite. I do also dislike Cable's "visions" but until we see what they are actually all about I have no right to make my mind up. Overall a wicked second issue, another of my favourite Now series!

Hulk #2

I loved the development to Hulk that Waid created in issue one and this issue brilliantly built upon the ideas of the first with the ever cautious Iron Man (lol) questioning his allegiance to SHIELD and whether he can keep up working for them and control or at least aim the Hulk. I am not a big Hulk fan but I am loving the start of this series, Banner's character actually seems to have a character for a change and the Hulk vs Bannar arc has been left behind in the trash where it belongs. Yu's art was again brilliantly fitting, adding a darkness and a realism to Hulk and Banner. I dont have much more to say about this issue, it was wicked! End Of!

Captain America #2

I was terribly disappointed by issue 1 of Captain America but this second issue goes a long way towards making up for it. The unusual post apocolyptic style Z world is a little far fetched and I am sure there must be a time issue to fix as he can't have been there for a year, he would have vanished in other titles... but the issue itself is pretty good, cap's internal narration is nice and this is some of my favourite of Romita's art. Kick ass is pretty good but I am usually a little put off by him, in this issue it really fits, the scratchy shading makes Cap seem dirty and darker which works really well for the issue. I dont know what is going to come of the series, surely it must become more formulaic soon but I like the idea of exploring Steve's childhood through him bringing up and I hope it continues.
