James Gunn's Slither is a monster movie from space written with wit and humour parodying the classic monster body horror movies of the 80's which were often themselves parodies of horrors from the 60's and 70's. Its funny, bloody and light-hearted providing big laughs and little ironic giggles whilst using typical characters and a typical story that is brought to life by Elizabeth Banks and Nathan Fillion.
Slither, once you know exactly what it is, is comedy to its core, the redneck little town turned into zombie style apocalypse looks pretty normal and trashy but has to be seen with parody in mind, once that is achieved you will enjoy it, trust me. If you give it a watch, you wont be disappointed Fillion is hilarious and the whole script is full of witty lines that are easy to enjoy even without the knowledge of classic horror conventions.
I watched this as research on the soon to be Guardians of the Galaxy director, after seeing both this and Super I am confident in Gunn despite his lack of conventional productions. Anyway give Slither a watch, there is a good laugh to be had by all!
