Looper (Rian Johnson 2012)

"Ask yourself: who would I sacrifice for what's MINE? "
Wow! Another hit for Rian Johnson, Looper is a smart, exciting and enjoyable film full of interesting characters, themes, stories and awesome visuals. Set in 2044, Joe (Gordon-Levitt) is a looper, an assasin that kills people sent back from the future to be assassinated  When he is sent back himself (Willis) things get a little complicated and that is all I am willing to tell you... not because I'm lazy but because part of the enjoyment of this film is the uncovering of the complex story and the uncovering of the world the film takes place in.

For me the setting is one of the best things about the film, the futuristic slums are close to our own world but have obvious and subtle alterations that stem from awesome SF ideas. The time travel is a little confusing but is easy enough to follow and the way the time travel and memories are used is an amazing idea. Looper is full of amazing ideas, its the kind of film that is so interesting you wouldn't mind watching 10 films just set in that universe! The action scenes are well shot and fun however for me Bruce Willis' scenes are a little poor. The story that unravels is so brilliant, you would never expect it and always want it, truly a masterpiece, GO SEE LOOPER!!!
