The Machininst (2004 Brad Anderson)

"A little guilt goes a long way."
This is an odd one, it has darkness,  insanity and an actor at his limit, an none of that is even a spoiler. There are quite a few cool moments in this confusing thriller but it feels like you are tumbling down the rabbit hole, whilst this is a little annoying it does make you relate to the character and is probably intentional, so good? I like the film, quite a lot but it hinges on this unusual mystery that doesn't really grab you as a watcher and isn't particularly compelling. On of the best parts of the film is SPOILER the tale around him imagining this woman and child and all of that culminating in him realising he is making stuff up. END.

A good enough film about a crazy insomniac, some good twists and a pretty sick looking Bale. Its no doubt a good mysterious movie however the mysterious psychological thriller is becoming a tired genre and this particular film is only a little above par.
7/10
