Aeon Flux (2005 Karyn Kusama)

Action Scifi is the correct genre for this film for sure, unfortunately its blending of the two is fairly weak, its one scene for exposition then one for battle, and these are not well mixed at all. The universe is pretty simple, interesting enough but not particularly well explored, what the film does do is set up an enigma that the story centres around. The only problem with this enigma is the character cares about it way more than we do, I when watching it didn't care at all, no emotional connections are made with the characters and we therefore don't care about their world. The solution again is interesting but still with little identification with the characters you have little emotional connection. I liked it but was not surprised or drawn in all that much.
5.5/10
