Alpha's is a scifi series in its second season, it shares the same universe as Warehouse 13 and Eureka that has been created by the Syfy channel. Whilst the series is relatively formulaic and each episode sticks to the format of the team hunting an alpha, it manages to stay fresh and has begun to develop some interesting arcs. It helps that during the first season they had some excellent guest stars like Brent Spiner and Summer Glau who have hinted at returning. The six characters in the team are charming characters who all have legitimate and in depth abilities with intelligent down sides, the psychological and medical analysis of the alphas abilities is also fresh, no magical or mystical powers are used and the realism this gives is happily welcome. Bill and Gary's interactions in particular tend to be the heart of the show and have not yet gotten repetitive however I can imagine it being overdone.
Unfortunately the second season is to be as short as the 12ep first season so it is hard to say where the arcs will go, on the other hand it is also difficult to get bored of as there is so little of it. Overall I really like the series and am looking forward to seeing it develop.
